Adamson runs in a hat-trick as Blues beat Hartpury
A Dean Adamson hat-trick inspired Bedford Blues to a third successive Elior Champ bonus point success when defeating Hartpury University 45-21 at Goldington Road on Saturday.
With visiting player Harry Bazalgette, one of the best in the division, the Blues were smart in the way they shut down the playmaker for the majority of the contest, albeit he still managed to make an outrageous crossfield kick to give Charlie Powell Hartpury's first try of the afternoon.

That cancelled out an early score from Blues' Ben Dufficy, but Hartpury were soon in the lead as Harry Short went over from a driving maul.
Mike Rayer's side patiently stuck to their task and managed to get a half-time lead thanks to Craig Wright muscling over from a five-metre penalty, before Adamson got his first by stepping back against the tide.
Coming up the slope in the second half, but with a three point advantage, the Blues then got to work.
Adamson touched down again to get the ball back rolling after a sublime offload from Marcus Kershaw, then Louis James and Rory Ward both profited from consistent pressure.
Lucas Titherington has been scoring tries for fun recently, but he was more than happy to turn provider in this game, as his assist led to James' try, while he was involved at the key junctures of four scores.
Adamson completed his hat-trick with 10 minutes left, taking his overall Blues tally to 183 tries, as a late Keir Clark score did nothing to dampen the mood as Blues move into November with momentum behind them.
Club captain Alex Day said: “We could have been pretty down at half-time, but we were really calm in the changing room, which I think shows a much better composure and we got the job done in the end, which was really pleasing.
“Discipline was a problem again and we spoke about that at half-time.
"We had to ride the storm a bit, in the first half especially, but we knew we had a strong bench and we’re very happy at the end to come away with all five points.”
Forwards coach, Cameron Boon added: “Ultimately satisfying.
"We maybe tried a little bit too much in the first half, but once we fixed some of the things, then we looked a completely different team.
"They backed each other up as a group and the most important thing I think is the players enjoyed themselves.”
