The 19-year-old made his third start of the season in the 1-0 defeat against Cambridge United last Tuesday.

Out of contract at the end of the campaign, Longden, who has had two disappointing loan spells at Boreham Wood and St Neots this term, wants another chance to impress.

He said: “If I’m not going to be involved here, a loan would be a good option.

“I expected to get a chance at Boreham Wood and St Neots, but didn’t really get one.

“Hopefully I can go on loan and teams might give me a chance now after playing against Wrexham and Cambridge.”

Longden, who admitted his first pro year had been tough, was the star performer in last Tuesday night’s defeat and hoped it would show the watching Still just what he is capable of.
