With a career spanning the past two decades, 10million records sold worldwide and a back catalogue of hits including All About You, Five Colours in Her Hair and Star Girl, McFly are a huge booking for the event - organised by Ampthill Festival.

McFly said: “We’re playing some huge venues this summer so we’re really looking forward to rocking out in a more intimate setting.”

Supporting McFly at AmpRocks on Friday, July 3 will be Ash, who no doubt will sharing hits from their 1977 and Islands albums.

Chair of AmpRocks, Lizzie Roynane, said: “AmpRocks is ecstatic to welcome McFly as our 2020 headliner and Ash in support. They’ll provide so much energy that the crowd won’t be able to help but sing along.

“We are also excited to announce the rest of our line-up across our three stages, however, we can’t tell you that just yet. Keep your eyes peeled!”

AmpRocks is a not-for-profit event dedicated to giving local talent a chance to hone their skills in front of a large audience, on an even larger stage.

This year, the festival is working closely with BBC Introducing and Redborne Upper School to identify fresh new musical talent in the town and region with the winner of Redborne Calling opening up the festival weekend.

Organised by volunteers in Ampthill, this year's festival will be the 11th year. Previous acts include The Human League, Busted, Squeeze, The Vamps, Bananarama and Happy Mondays.
