Town confirm Ainge extension

Town have confirmed they have extended defender Simon Ainge’s loan from Blue Square Bet North side Guiseley until the end of December with a view to a permanent transfer in January, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 24-year-old, who began his career at Bradford City, has started all three games since his arrival and netted his first goal in the 3-2 defeat to Braintree Town on Tuesday night.

Boss Paul Buckle said in his press conference this afternoon: “When somebody comes in you’re not going to give everything away straight away.

“It was a month’s loan, but we always intended on taking the boy.

“We had a look and it was evident straight away that he was everything we were looking for in a centre half.”

The official Guiseley AFC Twitter page confirmed: “Ourselves and Luton Town have agreed in principle to the permanent transfer of Simon Ainge.

“It’s subject to the clubs agreeing a fee as well as personal terms being settled between Simon and Luton.”
