Still feels his age as he faces up to ‘tough competitor’ Gayle

The 43-year-old Staines boss played over 600 times for the likes of Wimbledon, Watford, Rangers and Brentford, commanding over £2million in transfer fees.

Still said: “I feel old now! I know Marcus, who’s done well and got into management. All those years ago when he was just a player how easy he thought it was just to manage and now he realises how difficult it is to manage.

“He’s trying to make his way on the other side of the fence and I wish all the people that are starting out the best of luck because this is not a profession you could always recommend to people.”

And Still believes Gayle will be anxious to make progress in the FA Trophy and, as a result, Town’s progression through today’s tie will be anything but straightforward.

Still added: “I always say the same thing, I’m glad I’m 63 and not 43. I’ve been very, very lucky to have done it for as long as I’ve done it. He wants to give it a go and good luck to him.

“He’s got all the ingredients to do well, and I’m sure he’ll be anxious to make progress in this competition.

“So that’s going to make it tough as well because he’s a tough competitor, a tough campaigner.”
