Rendell’s relief at first Hatters strike

Striker Scott Rendell was thrilled to be up and running with his first goal in a Luton shirt during Monday’s comfortable 3-1 victory at Ebbsfleet, writes Mike Simmonds.

The summer signing from Wycombe Wanderers hadn’t netted since March 31, when he was on target for Oxford United in their 2-1 home defeat to Morecambe.

He won’t get an easier chance all season either, superbly set up by Stuart Fleetwood to tap into an empty net from a yard out.

Rendell had been heavily involved in Fleetwood’s 10th-minute opener too, teeing the striker up with an unselfish pass and it was the sort of selflessness that stood out throughout the afternoon.
