Football League finally respond to Trust in Luton letters

The Football League have finally responded to two letters from Trust in Luton questioning the penalties received by Watford and Portsmouth due to their recent misdemeanours.

The pair seem to have been treated far more leniently by the authorities than the savage penalties incurred by Hatters in 2008 that saw them start the season with -30 points as they were penalised by both the Football League and Football Association.

A Football League spokesperson said: “The cases of Watford, Portsmouth and Luton Town are all separate and equally complex.

“Watford were charged with a specific breach of Football League regulations, whereas in the Luton and Portsmouth cases, the points deductions stemmed from non-compliance with The Football League’s insolvency policy during the club’s exit from administration.”
