Cullen happy to feel wanted by Hatters

New Town signing Mark Cullen admitted the persistence of Hatters manager John Still was a major factor behind him agreeing to join, writes Mike Simmonds.

On hearing that the 21-year-old striker had left the Tigers after being released, Still was quickly on the phone to persuade him to move to Kenilworth Road.

Cullen said: “There had been other clubs, but once Luton expressed their interest and made it clear they wanted me quite badly, I was really excited by the prospect as well.

“To get a manager who wants you and makes you feel wanted and likes you as a player, it’s the best way to be.

“Going in there and knowing the manager likes me, it’s positive stuff.”

Still had one of the best seats in the house in which to scout Cullen as the striker was on loan at Stockport last season, who Luton played twice while the boss was in charge.
