Beckwith leaves Kenilworth Road

Defender Dean Beckwith has left Luton Town by mutual consent after Hatters announced they had de-registered his contract this afternoon.

The 28-year-old played 21 times, scoring twice during his 18 months at the club, his last appearance coming in the 5-2 defeat at Newport County.

A statement on Luton’s official website said: “Dean leaves the club with the best wishes from everyone at Kenilworth Road.”

On leaving the Hatters, Beckwith was snapped up by Blue Square Bet South side Eastleigh and is available for tonight’s fixtures against Billericay Town.

Spitfires manager Richard Hill said: “I have been chasing Dean’s signature for around two months now and am delighted he has agreed to join us and in doing so, has turned down a number of approaches from well established Conference National teams.

“I am certain Dean will get a fantastic reception and become a firm fans favorite. Signing players of Dean’s calibre will be very important if the club is to achieve its short, medium and long term goals.”
