Dementia care that goes beyond the diagnosis
Manton Heights Care Centre’s approach to dementia care is grounded in its ‘By Your Side – Bringing Quality to Life’ strategy, which places the individual—not the diagnosis—at the heart of every decision. Through a combination of personalised care planning, meaningful lifestyle engagement, and expert dementia training, the home creates a setting where each resident feels truly seen and supported. Purpose-built environments, including a tranquil Namaste Room and secure dementia-friendly gardens, encourage independence, stimulation, and emotional wellbeing. The integration of innovative technology—such as virtual reality headsets, interactive activity tables, and Motitech bikes—further enhances quality of life, offering moments of connection, comfort and joy every day

Supporting the community with meaningful moments
At Manton Heights, residents are supported to live full and meaningful lives—and that care extends to families and the wider Bedford community too.
On the last Thursday of every month at 2pm, the home opens its doors for its friendly Dementia Café. This relaxed, welcoming event invites families, carers, and individuals affected by dementia to connect, chat, and access informal advice from care professionals and guest speakers. It’s a space built on listening, learning and community support.
“Our Dementia Café and other community events are about creating spaces where people feel understood and connected,” says General Manager Vera Moreira. “We’re passionate about supporting the emotional and social needs of those living with dementia just as much as the physical.”
The man shed – digging with the lads
This summer also sees the introduction of Digging with the Lads, a twice-monthly “Man Shed” session held every other Tuesday morning from 10am. Open to residents and men from the local community, the Man Shed is a space for conversation, shared skills, woodwork, hobbies, and friendship. Whether you’re a lifelong gardener or just enjoy a cuppa and a chat, it’s a place to feel useful, heard and welcome.
Summer fête invitation
The team is also inviting everyone to its upcoming Summer Fête on the 10th August from noon, where residents, families and local visitors can enjoy a garden party with stalls, ice cream, raffle prizes, and homemade treats.
If you’re considering dementia care, respite support, or simply want to join a local event with heart, Manton Heights Care Centre is here to help.
