Wetherspoon reveals name of Kempston pub as it submits alcohol licence application

You may remember last month (July) when we told you J D Wetherspoon had bought the former Brewers Fayre in Kempston.

Well, now the company – owned by Sir Tim Martin – has revealed its new name. And the pub will be called The Fletton Brick.

At the time, Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon, said: “The company will be redeveloping the site and it is due to reopen early September (2026).

“The fact the new Universal Studios theme park will be nearby is a boon to the town and will obviously benefit the pub too.”

J D Wetherspoon – which also has The Pilgrim’s Progress – is applying to the council to sell alcohol at the new pub, in Fletcher Road, between 8am and 12.30am Sunday to Wednesday and 8am to 1am Thursday to Saturday.

And, it wants any alcohol sold to be for consumption both on and off the premises.

The company also wants to serve late night refreshments between 11pm and 12.30am Sunday to Wednesday and 11pm and 1am Thursday to Saturday.

Anyone wanting to have their say should write to the Licensing Authority, Bedford Borough Council, Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford MK42 9AP specifying the grounds for making representations no later than Monday, August 24.
