Taxman reminds payers to file their returns

THE taxman is urging people who haven’t sent their tax returns in to do so before the end of January or receive a £100 fine.

Around 69,000 people in Bedfordshire file a Self Assessment return every year and any outstanding forms for 2009/10 must be submitted by then.

January 31 is also the deadline for paying any tax owed to HM Revenue and Customs for the 2009/10 tax year.
