Furniture shop to open in part of former Beales department store in Bedford

The chain – which already has eight stores across the Midlands and East Anglia – is moving into part of the former Beales site.

And, what’s more – it’s recruiting.

In posters seen around Silver Street, the store said: “We are actively recruiting for both full-time and part-time salespeople for our new store.”

So far, there’s no exact date for the opening – but suffice to say it will be sometime in the autumn.

This comes hot on the heels of Furniture Outlet which last year signed a five-year lease for the ground floor of the former Wilko. It moved into Bedford High Street a year ago.

As for The Furniture Warehouse, the Peterborough business began life as an online furniture retailer before expanding into physical stores.

It sells sofas, dining room furniture and bedroom furniture, including mattresses.

And as previously reported, it’s not the only business to move into the former Beales store.

Earlier this year, we revealed how professional dance college Dancebox Studios & Theatre Works was moving into the former Beales store at the Harpur Street entrance.
