Still not nagging Hammers about Pelly’s return

Town boss John Still won’t be pestering West Ham about the possibility of re-signing Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu on loan, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 20-year-old impressed hugely during his seven appearances at Kenilworth Road, before the Hammers recalled him on Monday due to a injury crisis in defence.

Ruddock Mpanzu didn’t feature in the 2-1 Premier League defeat at Fulham, but once Saturday’s round of matches are out of the way, Still felt there might be a better possibility of his return.

The Town chief said: “It’s like Emergency - Ward 10 at West Ham at the moment.

“What I don’t want to do, as they know that we’d take him back, is the phone goes, pick it up, put it down, who’s that? They go oh it’s Stilly at Luton, well tell him to leave us alone, we’re trying to sort ourselves out, which I would do too.

“I know all the lads there, and I spoke to Neil McDonald the other night, the assistant manager, and Terry (Harris) in something completely different spoke to Ian Hendon (development coach).

“We know them that well, so I think they know that we would know their situation at the moment.

“If all of a sudden they said, well he can go again Pelly, I’m sure they would say, listen Pelly would go again.

“But lets get this mad festive period over so normality kicks in, and next week, then might be the chance.

“At the moment everyone’s worried about the next game, they don’t want to worry about people ringing.

“When this Saturday’s over, everyone will be able to sit back and take a nice deep breath and we can all look again.”
