McGeehan ready to make step up

Although an FA Youth Cup winner with Norwich City last season, new Town signing Cameron McGeehan admits it’s a step up joining the Hatters’ Skrill Premier title charge, writes Mike Simmonds.

McGeehan, 18, was captain of the Canaries side that won the FA Youth Cup last season, scoring in both legs of a 4-3 aggregate over Chelsea.

The midfielder, who was once signed by Chelsea for £80,000 as a 10-year-old, knows playing in Conference will be a completely different scenario.

He said: “The Youth Cup final is a really big occasion, everyone’s really up for it and it was played at a good intensity.

“Hopefully that will help me to play at this level as it’s a step up.

“The training is a lot harder, intensity a lot higher, I’m just getting used to the tempo.

Although on John Still’s wanted list for quite a while, the boss and McGeehan admitted the move had been helped by goalkeeping coach Jeff Wood, who had been at the Canaries prior to joining Luton’s backroom staff.
