Hatters rated v Lincoln City

Steve McNulty: 7.5 – Commanding and rugged performance at the back as the Imps’ strikeforce made little impression and showed great composure to use the ball sensibly which led to Luton’s third.

Alex Lawless: 7 – Great to see him back after injury and illness and linked play well, without reaching the very heady heights we all know he is capable of.

Jon Shaw: 7 – Hold up play made a real difference for the Hatters but would be lovely to see the goals flow from the prolific marksman.

Simon Ainge: 7.5 – Back in his preferred position of centre-half the former Guiseley man looked much more at home as Lincoln were barely given a sniff.

David Martin: 8 – Direct winger scored twice, but should have had four as he showed a real ruthlessness in front of goal after an early miss.

Matt Robinson: 7 – Youngster’s star is on the rise as he put in a mature and effective performance in the heart of Hatters’ midfield.

Jonathan Smith: 7 – Full of energy as ever but showed much more composure on the ball and picked some telling passes on the night.

Ronnie Henry: 7 – Played a full part both defensively and in attack and you would never have known he is set to go under the knife on Thursday.

Andre Gray: 8 – Took his goal superbly, laid on Martin’s second and was a constant terror to the Imps’ defence on the right-hand prong of a front three.

Scott Griffiths: 7 – Still some way away from match fitness but put in a composed and effective showing and didn’t look out of place.

Scott Rendell (sub): 6.5 – Showed some nice touches, linked play well and combined especially well with Gray.

Alex Wall (sub): 6 – Straight into the thick of it and carried a threat against Lincoln’s dispirited defence.

Dan Walker (sub): N/A – Late replacement didn’t have enough time to make any real impression.
