Friendlies end on victory high

HAPPY Hatters boss Paul Buckle was delighted to see his side round off their pre-season campaign with a 1-0 win over League One Leyton Orient at Kenilworth Road on Saturday, writes Mark Wood.

Marquee summer signing Jon Shaw, pictured, came on for his home debut at the break and scored the winner just two minutes into the second half with a soaring header from Jake Howells’ cross. Town were the better side throughout and missed a host of chances, with livewire striker Andre Gray going close four times.

Buckle said: “I think it was a tough game, a step on from where we’ve left off with other games. I asked the players before the game, a quarter to five, can we be ahead again on aspects of our game, and I think we’ve seen today another clean sheet and Shaw scoring is really pleasing.”
