Brabin’s delight as Luton thrash Kettering 5-0 once again

HATTERS boss Gary Brabin felt his side earned their just rewards after recording back-to-back 5-0 wins over 10-man Kettering Town on New Year’s Day, writes Mike Simmonds.

Jake Howells put the visitors ahead early on, before Adam Watkins, Janos Kovacs, Greg Taylor and Stuart Fleetwood all netted as Luton moved up to third in the table.

Brabin said: “I thought it was a good performance, a good scoreline. I think it’s always tough when you play the same team and you’ve got to play them back-to-back as you get a good insight from the previous game.

“I said to the lads it would be tough. A lot’s been made of what’s been going on here in Kettering but they’ve got a good manager in Mark Stimson and I genuinely believe they’ve got a lot of good players at the club.

“They probably haven’t got enough numbers and they never made it easy for us. I never felt comfortable even at 2-0 and when they went down to 10 men they gave their all, but we played some good football, we were patient and in the end we got what we deserved.”

The boss made two changes from the Boxing Day drubbing as Danny Crow and Dan Gleeson missed out, while James Dance and Curtis Osano came into the side as Brabin added: “We’ve had a few players suffering (with flu) and Crowy’s ended up missing the game because of it.

“We even had to have a substitute physio because he was probably the worst of them all.

“Dan Gleeson had a bit of a problem with his back, so Curtis came in and gave a real solid performance. We changed things round a little bit, but carried on from last week.”
