Beds held by Bucks in run fest
A high-scoring Minor Counties Championship encounter saw Bedfordshire held to a high-scoring draw against Buckinghamshire at Ampthill today.
It was the first time the Park had hosted a county game and Beds produced far better form in their Eastern Division match than they had in the one-day MCCA Knockout Trophy where they finished bottom of their group.
On paper Beds’ line-up looked far more suited to the three-day game and so it proved as they amassed a huge 469-6 from 90 overs in their first innings.
The pitch proved a belter throughout as Bucks then replied with a mammoth 518-4 from their 90 overs.
Conditions remained a delight to bat on during the third and final day too as Beds were 354-5 when bad light stopped play and both captains opted to shake hands.
