There are overnight closures right up until this Friday (September 18) so temporary barriers can be removed.

It’s all part of the £1 billion Black Cat upgrade which started in late 2023.

This week’s closures run from 9pm to 5am each night and affect:

>A1 northbound between Tempsford and Wyboston

>A421 eastbound between Renhold and Black Cat junction

Follow the signed diversion route via the A603, A1 northbound, St Neots Road, and A428.

However, the temporary road closure at Barford Road, Little Barford, has been postponed.

It was due to run between September 25 to October 19 but will will now take place later this year.

The upgrade – a 10-mile dual carriageway – will link the A1/A421 Black Cat roundabout with the A428 Caxton Gibbet roundabout and is due to open in spring 2027.
