The latest recruit to the The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire (BCH) Dog Unit has begun his six-week training course with five other dogs and their handlers but he has discovered he has the same name as one of his classmates - Duke.

Now, he is appealing to the public to help him pick a new one so as not to cause confusion during his training to join the drug dog team.

The pooch-formerly-known-as-Duke, who was rescued from a centre in Devon, has drawn up a shortlist: Buzz, Charlie, Frank, Taz, Tiggy, Trigger, Whizz, Zippy and Yoda.

He is asking fans of the BCH Dog Unit’s Facebook page to vote for their favourite.

In order to vote people will need to first ‘like’ the BCH Dog Unit’s Facebook page, which launched on Monday (June 1).

People will then be able to cast a vote on the poll set up on the page.

Voting closes at 3.30pm on Friday, June 5, and the winning name will be announced soon after.
