Pop sensation Olly Murs will be playing Bedford Park after all - as the Government’s roadmap to recovery means audiences can enjoy Bedfordshire’s largest al fresco event once again.

Set to take place from Thursday, July 29 to Sunday, August 1 - the first time the event has been held over four days - the organisers are hopeful this will bode well for the future.

Mark Harrison of Bedford Park Concerts, said: "It's been a tough time - but with four dates, this allows us going forward to get bigger and better acts."

He added: “We were always cautiously optimistic that these events, postponed from last summer, would be able to take place this July and the latest government roadmap gives us reassurance that we can deliver them safely this year.

“A combination of the vaccination programme and our concerts taking place outdoors with plenty of room for social distancing – whether that is required or not – provide us with the reassurance that we can put tickets on sale with a degree of confidence that we will not need to postpone or cancel due to the pandemic.”

Murs will open the extravaganza on the Thursday. On Friday evening, there'll be the vibrant Café Mambo Ibiza - an opportunity to relive the soundtrack of the Balearics included a star-studded line-up of DJs.

“We know how much people have missed dancing and partying with friends and this is a perfect way to experience the party atmosphere,” added Mark.

Tenor Wynne Evans – who now appears as himself alongside Gio Compario in the famous car insurance Go Compare adverts - and soprano Victoria Joyce will headline the Proms on Sunday evening in what will be the Proms 25th anniversary.

Ah, but what about Saturday night, we hear you cry? Well, that one is still under wraps for now - but as soon as Bedford Today has the info, you'll be the first to know.

If you have a ticket from 2020, that is still valid - however tickets, including a VIP offering - are available here
