Residents evacuated following kitchen fire in Kempston
Residents were evacuated following a kitchen fire in a flat in Adamson Walk, Kempston, last night (September 2)’
Emergency services were called shortly after 7pm with fire crews assisting residents to evacuate neighbouring flats while ambulance staff treated three people at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets and main jets to extinguish the fire and positive pressure ventilation to help clear the smoke.
Crews from Bedford, Kempston and Leighton Buzzard subsequently cleared the building of smoke logging.

Beds Fire & Rescue Service say the cause of the fire was accidental, after an electric hob was inadvertently left switched on.
Later the same evening a fire crew from Ampthill and two crews from Kempston were called to a road traffic collision in Maulden Road, Flitwick.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish a car which was completely damaged by fire.
