Bedford bingo-goers slapped with incorrect fines after parking company blunder

Back in August, Bedford Today revealed how Euro Car Parks had taken over the running of the car park in Newnham Avenue with all customers allowed a maximum stay of TWO HOURS.
As part of the agreement, bingo customers at Club 2000 got free parking just by registering their vehicle registration number once on the keypad in the foyer.

In a post on social media, James from Club 2000 said: “We have had an update today [Monday] from our landlords that all fines which were issued before today (October 21) have been cancelled and all recipients will be written to. If you are in receipt of a fine, there is no further action required on your part. If you have paid a fine, you will be contacted and refunded.”
One customer said: “Had a further two in the post today. Had four in total.”
While another added: “I wasn't aware of this, I never saw any signs and nothing was mentioned about signing in and I got a fine come through today for the October 10. I'll probably get another one for October 11.”

“We apologise for those who received fines and any unwarranted stress this may have caused. Parking is free and unrestricted for all Club 2000 Bingo members who have registered their vehicles.”
In an unrelated post on social media, one McDonald’s customer at Aspects complained after they were fined £100 for parking at the fast food restaurant on two completely separate occasions.
The patron said: “The cameras had somehow conflated my two journeys to imply I parked there overnight. I parking for around 15 minutes only on both occasions.”
We have approached Euro Car Parks for comment.
