The Fletton Brick – the new J D Wetherspoon pub – has confirmed it will open its doors next Tuesday (September 22).

The move has created 50 new jobs following a development project costing £1.2 million.

It will be managed by Kirsti-Kitten Smith, who was previously pub manager of The Weeping Ash in St Neots.

And the name hasn’t just been picked out of a hat by J D Wetherspoon boss Sir Tim Martin – oh no. It’s in reference to the London Brick Company at Stewartby, which produced Fletton bricks on a massive scale.

The Fletton Brick will be open 8am until midnight Sunday to Thursday and 8am to 1am Friday and Saturday. Food will be served throughout the day, from opening until 11pm.

Historical photos and details of Bedford history, as well as artwork and images of characters from the area, are also displayed in the pub. And a bespoke carpet has even been designed and fitted.
