There are only 5 outstanding care homes in Bedfordshire, and Elcombe House and Danecroft are the only ones that have achieved four out of the five stars.

The CQC report for Elcombe House noted that without exception, both residents and their relatives said they received exemplary support and praised staff for their dedicatiion and care.

The report went on to say: “Staff had a passion for their job roles and this was reflected in the support which they gave to people. There was an extremely positive atmosphere at the service which promoted compassion and care.

"Staff had developed meaningful relationships with people and treated them with kindness and respect. Promoting people’s dignity, privacy and independence was a top priority for all staff members.”

Chris Ryan, managing director of St Andrew's Care Homes and registered manager of Elcombe House said: “I am delighted that all the staff at Elcombe have been recognised for the amazing job they do day after day.

“To now have both of our homes rated as outstanding is humbling and a testament to the values and passion of the management team which we will continue to build on.”
