Last month, the fun-loving team at the home on Bedford Road transformed their bistro into a fantastical destination right out of Lewis Carroll’s cherished classic.

Residents and their loved ones got to meet Alice, the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts, as well as enjoying a musical performance by Rosie from Care Entertainment.

Beryl Livesley, 96 said, “It was such a brilliant afternoon, and the team looked fantastic in their costumes.

“Who doesn’t love a trip to Wonderland, and it was for a good cause!”

The event was held to fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support and the vital work they do for people living with cancer across the UK.

Elstow Manor held a raffle as part of the event, which collected £150 for the charity.

Wellbeing Coach Maria Hindle said: “The brilliant thing about Alice In Wonderland is that it’s a story with so many big characters, which made the fancy dress so much fun.

“We have to thank our wonderful Alice aka Gill Crow, Isla MacAllister, as the Queen of Hearts, and Maria Hindle, Val Fuller and Oliver Waddington as the Mad Hatters! Everyone threw themselves into making this event extra special, and the residents loved it.”
