Hockey returns for the 2026-27 season

Results across the rest of the weekend’s matches were pretty impressive.

It was the start of league campaigns for thirteen of Bedford Hockey Club’s fourteen adult teams at the weekend.

The Ladies’ First XI will begin their run next weekend, when they travel away to Harleston Magpies, following their return to National League, but did test themselves with a fixture against Witney, a team playing in the equivalent division in the west. The teams entertained the Chester Road home crowd, with the match finishing in a 2-2 draw, Ellie Scott and Kate Costin both starting where they left off with their goal-scoring prowess.

The Ladies’ Sevens opened their season with points, after Welwyn conceded, unable to field a team. Following a great influx of new players to the club this season, however, sufficient Bedford players were available to make up two full teams for a training match.
