Grant Palmer urges Flitwick passengers to plan ahead during railway bridge closure
Grant Palmer is encouraging passengers in Flitwick and the surrounding area to plan their journeys before travelling as the ongoing closure of the railway bridge at Dunstable Street continues to affect local bus services.

The bridge is currently closed due to gas main works, with the closure scheduled to remain in place until Friday 11th September 2026.
The closure is affecting a number of Grant Palmer services through Flitwick and, with displaced traffic using alternative routes around the town, passengers are being advised to allow additional time for their journeys.
As Grant Palmer's main operating depot is based in Flitwick, congestion and disruption in the area can also have a knock-on effect on services across the wider network.
Service 34 will terminate at Flitwick Post Office. Stops at Flitwick Interchange, Steppingley Road, Flitwick Leisure Centre, Froghall Road and Ampthill Heights will not be served.
Service 42 will operate via Kings Road, Greenfield Road and Westoning Road to Westoning. Stops on Manor Way, Steppingley Road and at Flitwick Interchange will not be served.
Due to the ongoing gas main works, Service 42 is also currently unable to serve stops in Westoning beyond The Chequers. Customers should use The Chequers as the temporary boarding and alighting point. Students travelling between Westoning and Harlington Upper School must board and alight at The Chequers until further notice.
Service 44 continues to operate its normal route but may experience delays as a result of displaced traffic in and around Flitwick. Service 134 will commence and terminate at Flitwick Post Office. Service 200 will commence and terminate at Kings Road.
Grant Palmer is encouraging passengers to check their journey before leaving home and allow some extra time while the closure remains in place. The easiest way to keep up to date is through the free Grant Palmer smartphone app, where passengers can plan their journey and use live bus tracking to see where their bus is in real time. Customers can also switch on push notifications to receive service information and disruption updates tailored to the routes they use.
Thomas Manship, Commercial Manager at Grant Palmer, said: “The railway bridge closure is having a significant impact on the road network in Flitwick, particularly at the busiest times of day. Our team is working hard to keep buses moving and minimise disruption, but congestion can unfortunately have a knock-on effect across our wider network.
“We would strongly encourage customers to plan their journey before travelling, allow a little extra time and make use of our free app and live tracking. Turning on push notifications is also a great way to make sure you receive the latest information for the services you regularly use.
“We appreciate our customers' patience and understanding while these essential works are taking place.”
Grant Palmer will continue to monitor the situation and update customers should the works or diversion arrangements change. Find out more at grantpalmer.com or call 01525 719719
