Ampthill score 60 points in thrilling win at Caldy
Ampthill enjoyed a hugely entertaining 61-47 victory at Caldy in their Elior Champ clash on Saturday.
The visitors made a great start to the contest, with some strong carries from captain Harrison Courtney and new Canadian recruit, Isaac Olson, giving the A’s positive field position.

From that Ed Timpson drove over the line after some slick close-range phases on the hosts’ line, Finn Keylock adding the extras.
The hosts responded quickly, Will Robinson touching down, but after a superb line break from Keylock, Timpson was on hand yet again to double his tally for the afternoon.
Things got better for the Mob, another line break from Keylock setting up Oscar Wilson for his first try of the season, a successful kick making it 21-5.
Defending a driving maul has been a tricky task for all teams this term, and that would prove to be the case again as Matt Gallagher was able to touch down twice as Caldy cut the gap to 21-19 at the break.
Ampthill came out firing in the second period, with a superb double score, the first coming from a lovely dummy pass by Keylock, whose slick hands set up Asa Stewart-Harris to dive under the posts.
Barney Merrett would get himself on the scoreboard, Harrison Courtney’s strong line break setting up Kennedy Sylvester and he lofted the pass wide to Merrett who made it 35-19.
The Ravers attacking threat had looked most prevalent from driving mauls and again that would be shown with two scores sandwiching another free-flowing attempt from Oscar Wilson.
Two more scores followed for the Mob, replacement Efan Jones finishing off a lovely move started by a spinning Jevaughn Warren before Elliot Gourlay went over the whitewash to dot down against his former club.
The hosts would again score a quick-fire double Rhys Tudor and Harry Oliver on target as Ampthill were reduced to 14-men after Tino Mapapalangi was sent to the bin.
However, a successful afternoon for the A’s would be topped off with a Champ debut try from hooker Jamie Fallon to cap off another high-scoring contest at 61-47.
