Still to discuss Rooney’s future

Rooney, 23, was signed until the end of the campaign from Ryman Premier League side Maidstone United.

The former Gillingham and Swindon Town man made six appearances in total, but any discussions are on hold for the moment.

Boss John Still said: “Luke’s away, he’s going to call me when he comes back.

“He did okay, but it’s another one where I just need to talk through everything with him and it has to be right for everyone.”

Speaking after the civic celebrations, Rooney declared his intent to stay at the club and admitted he had been shocked just how big a team he’d joined.
