The 19-year-old penned a two-year contract with the Hatters last summer following his release from hometown club Leicester City, but has now agreed a 12 month extension.

Robinson made his Town debut in a 2-0 win at Kidderminster Harriers last August and scored his first goal for the club in the 3-1 win at Southport on the final game of the season.

In total Robinson made 14 appearances for the Hatters with seven of those appearances coming in the final seven matches of the campaign under new manager John Still.

The boss told the club’s official website: “Matt impressed me immensely with a number of mature performances in midfield towards the end of the season.

“All of the players in the squad needed to prove to me they warranted a place at the club next season and Matt did precisely that.

“Everybody knows the kind of player I like: young, ambitious, hungry. Matt’s all that and more. He’s got terrific potential and he’s still only a teenager.

“Matt knows what he has to do to continue his improvement and if he can, then he is going to be a very important part of the squad.”
