Rendell: Buckle’s departure has had no effect on Town’s players

Striker Scott Rendell insists he and his team-mates haven’t been effected by the departure of manager Paul Buckle last week, writes Mike Simmonds.

Buckle left the club hours before Luton were held to a 1-1 draw at 10-man Macclesfield, while Town then lost 3-2 against Mansfield on Saturday.

Speaking about his decision to go, Rendell said: “It was his choice, everyone’s allowed to have a choice in life.

“He felt it wasn’t right for him to be here anymore, we’ve got to respect that as human beings and as professionals.

Rendell remained in the starting line-up on Saturday, notching his 12th goal of the season.

It was his first in the league since December 26 and he raised his finger to his lips on scoring, something he had done against Norwich too.

On the goal and celebration, he added: “It’s something that I’ve done, it wasn’t aimed at anyone, nothing like that.”
