Ex-Hatters skipper Ronnie Henry has been left overwhelmed by the messages received from players and staff since news of his departure was made public.

Strikers Andre Gray and Mark Cullen both took to Twitter to thank the captain for his influence on and off the field during the title-winning season, while chairman Nick Owen has also been in touch.

Henry said: “The players have shown great support to me, I think every single one of them has text me and wished me well.

“It’s been quite overwhelming how much support I’ve had and how much of a miss I’ll be in the dressing room.

“I think I offered quite a lot off the field not just on the field.

“I think a lot of fans that maybe gave me a little bit of stick, the real fans probably understood that.”

Henry also felt he had played quite a part in the development of Gray’s talents this season, while the full back admitted he is now actively looking for a new club.
