Franks left in no doubt over the size of Hatters

Hatters defender Fraser Franks was left in no doubt of the magnitude of how big a club he had joined after witnessing the title celebrations at Welling on Saturday.

A marvellous 2,000 fans made the trip, turning the Wings’ Park View ground into a sea of orange.

The Town supporters stayed long after the game to salute their heroes and Franks, who had left Welling to join Luton in January, said: “It’s like nothing I’ve experienced before.

“I knew it was a big club coming here, but days like this show you just how big it is. Away from home and fans on the pitch, it was great scenes and great for the supporters to be involved.”

The title had been secured the previous Tuesday when nearest rivals Cambridge lost 2-0 at Kidderminster and Franks explained how he found out.
