The Eagles recently appointed former Rovers chief Dan Kennoy as their new manager, and he has moved quickly to appoint Byrne as his number two.

Barton had brought in ex-Bedford supremo Lee Bearman after fellow joint boss Richard Wilmot decided to retire and he will now be looking to add to his backroom staff in the wake of Byrne’s departure.
