Bedford Town bounce back from early blow to beat Leamington
Battling Bedford Town secured three vital points in a 3-1 comeback victory over Leamington on Good Friday.
A crowd of 1,148 spectators packed into The Eyrie this afternoon, creating an electric atmosphere for a clash that promised high drama.

Those in attendance were not disappointed as Bedford overcame an early setback to secure a commanding victory over a Leamington side equally desperate for vital points.
The match ignited almost immediately, with the visitors silencing the home support in the sixth minute.
Following a bright start by both sides, Leamington earned a corner that the Bedford defence struggled to deal with.
As the ball pinged around the six-yard box, the Eagles failed to find a decisive clearance.
The loose ball fell perfectly into the path of Max Brogan, who didn't hesitate, rifling a powerful, instinctive strike into the roof of the net to give the Brakes a 1-0 lead.
However, any concerns that Bedford might crumble under the early pressure were dispelled just two minutes later.
In the ninth minute, Josh Castiglione produced a moment of individual brilliance that shifted the momentum of the entire match.
Picking the ball up just inside the Leamington half, Castiglione embarked on a marauding solo run.
Showing exceptional close control, he wove his way past three lunging defenders, driving toward the edge of the penalty area.
With the goal in his sights, he capped the effort with a clinical, low finish into the bottom-left corner.
The solo effort sent the home fans into raptures and restored parity at 1-1.
The interval allowed Bedford to reset, and they emerged for the second period with a clear sense of intent.
The Eagles dominated the opening exchanges, moving the ball with a pace that Leamington struggled to track.
After several chances in the opening 10 minutes of the half, the breakthrough finally arrived in the 54th minute.
The goal that took the lead was the product of a beautifully orchestrated team move.
The influential Jevani Brown, who had been pulling the strings in midfield all afternoon, was instrumental in a move finished off by George Moncur just inside the box.
Moncur showed great composure, slotting the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper, Brearey, to put the hosts 2-1 up.
As the match entered the final quarter, the pressure continued to mount on the Leamington backline.
The decisive third goal arrived in the 68th minute via a set-piece.
A swinging corner was delivered deep into the heart of the danger zone, causing chaos in the six-yard box.
Under intense pressure from the Bedford attackers, Brearey rose to punch the ball clear but fumbled the contact, inadvertently directing the ball into his own net.
The own goal gifted Bedford a vital two-goal cushion and effectively knocked the stuffing out of the visitors.
Even with a comfortable lead, Bedford remained relentless.
In the 82nd minute, they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area. Ryan Cole stepped up and curled a magnificent effort over the wall.
The strike beat the keeper all ends up but, cruelly for the Eagles, crashed off the frame of the goal and back into play.
Only three minutes later, the woodwork was rattled for a second time.
This time it was Greg Sandiford whose set-piece delivery had the beating of the defence, but his strike struck the crossbar.
Jevani Brown was the quickest to react, heading home the rebound, but the celebrations were abruptly cut short by the linesman’s flag for offside.
The only sour note on an otherwise stellar afternoon was the dismissal of Jack Jenkins in injury time.
In a moment of late-game tension, Miro Pais went down following a challenge from Jenkins.
The referee deemed the contact sufficient to brandish a red card, much to the disbelief of the home players.
Though many in the ground viewed it as a soft sending-off, it did little to dampen the spirits of the Eagles' faithful.
