TV doctor visits Turvey retirement village to launch Live Longer, Live Stronger campaign
TV doctor Hilary Jones visited a retirement village in Turvey to launch the Live Longer, Live Stronger campaign.
Dr Jones visited Elderswell Retirement Village, on Hobbswick Lane in the village, to launch the initiative, which aims to highlight the benefits of staying fit and healthy in later life.
The visit coincided with National Fitness Day, a campaign which showcases the importance of physical activity for health and wellbeing.
Dr Jones, best known for his appearances as a medical expert on ITV’s Good Morning Britain breakfast programme, spoke about the importance of maintaining strength and mobility after 65, and how this helps people stay independent into their seventies, eighties and beyond.

The retirement housing complex is owned by Inspired Villages, which says figures show residents at its sites train an average of five times per month at gym facilities.
Guests were able to explore Elderswell’s facilities during the event, including its eGym and wellbeing equipment, with demonstrations from residents, tours of the village and a buffet prepared by the village’s chef.
Village manager at Elderswell Stephen Bates said: “’Live Longer, Live Stronger with Dr Hilary’ was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the facilities and activities available at Elderswell, while also highlighting the importance of staying active at every stage of life.
“Having Dr Hilary and Bob, an Inspired Villages resident, share their experiences gave our guests the opportunity to hear first-hand about the benefits of staying active and connected in later life.”
Elderswell is one of 12 Inspired Villages sites around the country, with facilities including a wellness centre, which features a fitness studio, gym and jacuzzi pool.
