Turvey Primary School pupils celebrate prestigious Character Education Award
Turvey Primary School is celebrating a major milestone after becoming the first school in Bedfordshire to be awarded the nationally recognised Character Education Quality Mark.
The award recognises the school’s exceptional commitment to developing pupils’ character alongside academic achievement, with a strong focus on virtues such as respect, resilience, responsibility, and kindness.
Headteacher Sharon Coles said: “We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition. At Turvey Primary, we believe education is about shaping confident, caring, and responsible young people. This award reflects the dedication of our staff, pupils, and wider community.”
Following a rigorous assessment process, the school was praised for its inclusive ethos, strong opportunities for pupil leadership, and the way children consistently demonstrate these virtues in their everyday lives, both in and out of school

As the first school in the county to receive the award, Turvey Primary hopes to inspire others to place character education at the heart of school life.
Turvey Primary School currently has spaces available for September and offers a free Breakfast Club from 8.20am for all pupils.
