A dog groomer and pet photographer from Stagsden has created a charity calendar featuring volunteers who stripped off to help raise cash for good causes.

Alison Wilkerson, who runs Paw Traits Pet Grooming and Photography, recruited volunteers aged from 18 to 80 to ‘bare all’ for the charity calendar raising awareness for men’s health.

The calendar features local lads, including residents, friends and her husband David who willingly posed for the photo shoot with funds going to mental health charity Men’s Minds Matter as well a Prostate Cancer UK & Testicular Cancer UK.

The six-month photography project took place in and around the village with the models stripping off behind some strategically placed scenery.

Alison said: “I thought this would be fun and for fabulous causes, especially as men tend not to talk about their issues.”

So far Alison has sold more than 30 calendars which can be purchased with a suggested donation of £10 plus p&p by texting 07775 644953. They are also available from Browns Farm Shop in Stagsden.

Alison describes herself as a passionate pet groomer with her High Street based business offering one-to-one appointments to ensure a calm, relaxing and stress-free pampering/studio photo shoot experience for pets.

Having trained at the College of Animal Welfare she also describes herself as an animal ‘nut’, someone who adores dogs but is also referred to as a ‘crazy cat lady’ and ‘mad as a hatter’, which she considers a compliment.

Alison is also an author having written a children's book, The Adventures of Tabby Cat (The Rescue Cat) and also writes a monthly article "Pets on the Cut", for the national Towpath Talk newspaper.
