A Bedford couple sold their old home and bought a new one in just 48 hours, thanks to one housebuilder’s Express Mover scheme.

Jack Legate and Abigail Rockall moved from their two-bedroom home in phase one of Bellway’s development in New Cardington, to a family-size home at its latest site – Eastcotts Green.

The young family got the keys to their new four-bedroom home at Eastcotts Green at the end of March and moved in at the end of April, just 12 days after their son Buddy was born.

Jack, 28, an IT sales manager, said: “We had been living in our first Bellway home for four years, which we purchased as first-time buyers. We were really pleased with the property and the location so as soon as they started construction work at Eastcotts Green we visited the sales office.

“Once we had found the plot we wanted, after looking at the plans, Express Mover was suggested to us. We used the recommended estate agents Cooper Wallace and got a 48-hour turn-around. We managed to secure the asking price for the property and reserved our new home off-plan before it even went on sale.

“The scheme was great, we sold really quickly, and the process was a doddle. We had six viewings in two days and that was it.”

Express Mover is available to Bellway customers where the housebuilder works with estate agents to agree a valuation on the customer’s existing property and find a buyer quickly. Bellway pays the agent’s fees and works closely with them until the sale completes.

Jack said: “We considered buying an old house and renovating, but with Express Mover and the fact that the house was fully ready to move in, we thought a new build was the best way to go.

“We aren’t the only people who have done this either, as another couple who used to live near us on the New Cardington estate have also moved over to Eastcotts Green. Like us, they wanted to upsize to a family home.”

Jack and Abigail 28, a personal assistant, said they have already recommended Bellway and the development to others and Abigail’s stepsister now also lives in New Cardington on the other side of the development.
