MPs: Milton Keynes Hospital plan will let city attract the best staff

Mark Lancaster and Iain Stewart were responding to yesterday’s announcement by the Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes Healthcare Review.
The study, which is being run by healthcare bosses across the two areas, has recommending closing maternity in Bedford and making it effectively a satellite of Milton Keynes Hospital.

“The move would be the result we have been campaigning for, building on the major investment in recent years. By centralising specialist services in maternity care, the hospital would be able to attract the best staff and the clinicians themselves would be able to maintain and develop their skill and utilise the University buildings that are on the site.
“We will continue to push the case for Milton Keynes University Hospital to be upgraded and expand to attain further services to deliver for our growing population.”
