Emergency services were called to a single vehicle collision on the eastbound carriageway of the A421 at 11.10pm on Christmas Day.

Sadly, a man was pronounced dead at the scene and a young child was later pronounced dead after being airlifted to hospital.

A woman, who was in the same vehicle, is currently being treated in hospital for serious injuries.

Investigating, Beds Police Sergeant Simon Goldsmith said: “Any death on the road is tragic but this incident is even more poignant given the day it occurred.

“Next of kin have been informed and our specialist family liaison officers are providing support to relatives.”

All three people in the car are from Bedfordshire.

Motorists are advised that road closures on the A421 between Marsh Keys and Marston are likely to remain on until late afternoon/early evening.
