A fine figure of an exhibition

SCULPTURE comes to Woburn this month, when Woburn ARTBEAT returns.

This annual project sees the traders of Woburn and Woburn Abbey join forces to transform the village of Woburn into an art gallery with a sculpture exhibition in the 36-acre garden at Woburn Abbey.

There will also be art on display at venues throughout the village, including Bedford Street Art Gallery, The Inn, The Black Horse and Jackson-Stops And Staff.

Dozens of names have been confirmed for the event, with several more still to be added to the list.

Johann Bester, one of the directors of the Bedford Street Art Gallery, said the event was a collaboration by people from across the village.

He said: “It’s a project we launched last year to promote Woburn and all the businesses here through the creative medium.

“It helps to promote original art, and in future years we may look to also incorporate other forms of art like live music and the performing arts.”

The two-week long celebration begins next week, and will run from April 15 to May 2.

And proceeds from the non-profit event will go to the British Heart Foundation.

Johann added: “We have been organising this since last year and most of the work is already here.

“Last year was a real success and we look forward to having even more people coming to Bedford next year.”
