Public displays of affection are often criticised however MP Alistair Burt ignored the social norms at the weekend.
Alistair, MP for North East Beds and his wife Eve were photographed kissing and celebrating their relationship on the community stage at Bedford River Festival.
The couple were taking part in a ‘kiss-in’ ran by Relate Bedfordshire and Luton, a charity that works to build stronger relationships.
Alistair and Eve spoke to Anita from local urban radio In2Beats about what makes their relationship work for them.
The kiss-in was held to show that Relate are not just in the local community to help with relationships in crisis, but also to help strengthen good relationships.
Also in the queue were Relate Bedfordshire CEO Angela Foll and her husband Ian; and Mark and Joylet Hudson who run E-spired, a Bedford-based support organisation for young people.
