Two sought-after musicians are bringing their talents to the weekly jazz night at the Bedford Arms on Monday July 4.
Louise Balkwill is a jazz singer living and performing in London. She formed her first jazz ensemble at the age of 17 and later obtained a scholarship at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
Louise has had the pleasure of learning from and working with musicians such as Pete Churchill, Trudy Kerr and Brigette Beraha. In the autumn of 2013, Louise formed her trio with brothers Tom Vine and Sam Vine, who have since toured with projects inspired by the Cole Porter songbook, the Rodgers and Hart songbook and Nat King Cole repertoire.
Louise has performed in top venues all over London, such as Pizza Express Jazz Club and Ronnie Scott’s.
Stefan Melovski is a guitarist, bandleader, arranger and teacher based in London. He divides his time performing his own arrangements through classical guitar recitals, alongside directing and playing with various jazz and folk ensembles.
In 2015, Stefan collaborated with the Carducci Quartet for the Royal Greenwich String Quartet Festival.He writes original music and arranges for Balkan band Op sa!.
Suggested donations of £5 per person are encouraged to pay the musicians at the end of the first of their two sets. Music is from the usual time of 8.30pm.
