Talents who have played with legends come to Bedford jazz session

Musicians who have played with Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder are coming to the Bedford Arms on Monday.

The session will be led by tenor saxophonist Dave O’Higgins, who will be joined by pianist Graham Harvey, double bassist Arnie Somogyi and drummer Mark Hale.

Dave is a popular and well known figure on the international jazz scene, having recorded 14 albums as leader with various lineups. He cut his teeth with NYJO, Cleo Laine, Roadside Picnic and Mezzoforte and went on to work with Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra and Jamie Cullum, among others.

To celebrate Dave Brubeck’s 90th birthday Dave teamed up with Darius, Chris and Dan Brubeck and toured as Brubecks Play Brubeck in the UK.

Appearing alongside Dave will be pianist Graham Harvey, widely renowned as one of the best the country has to offer. Albums he’s played on include those with George Benson, Incognito, Sax Appeal, Bobby Wellins. Has worked with Stevie Wonder, Ronnie Laws, Clark Terry and others, and toured the U.S.A, Europe and Japan as keyboard player and musical director for Incognito.

The music starts at 8.30pm with suggested contributions of £5 per person.
