Vernon victorious at Cheddar

Fresh from victory at the British Championships at Cheddar young BMX star Ethan Vernon is preparing for a full assault on the National and European Championships again.

The 12-year-old Bedford School pupil from Higham Gobion won all three qualifying races, the quarters, semis and final on his way to victory.

Earlier this season he also competed in the European and World Championships.

He was crowned European number two last season so chose to ride up in the older 13-14-year-old category in the National Championships this year.

With two rounds to go in the 11-round series, he secured the National title, taking wins in the majority of the races.

Dad Rob said: “Ethan will enjoy a rest now for a couple of weeks before commencing his winter training programme which will see him prepare for a full assault on the National and European Championships again.

“He has also shown a lot of promise on the velodrome and will add this discipline to his busy training and race schedule next season.

He is a member of the Royston Rockets and Welwyn Wheelers Cycling Clubs, while the majority of his training is carried out at his team’s private training track.
