Lidlington saw their title hopes take a big hit on Saturday as they were thrashed by 161 runs against promotion rivals Thurleigh II. Batting first, Thurleigh were reduced to 68-3 before a partnership of 83 between Jonathan Hunt (51) and Vijay Guru (40) put them firmly in the driving seat.
With the foundation laid, Ben Stock took the Lidlington bowling apart with a quick-fire 72 not out including eight fours and three sixes.
Lidlington’s Jake Hiscocks finished with 4-53.
Facing an uphill task to reach a mammoth 281, Lidlington lost early wickets and, although Nadeem Ahmed (24) held Thurleigh at bay for a short while, Ben Chance (4-18) finished Lidlington off.
This massive defeat against third placed Thurleigh dropped Lidlington to second in the table.
Although still in a promotion position, Lidlington will need to return to winning ways at Little Horwood next week if they are to stay in the title race.
