Thurleigh win derby with Elstow

Thurleigh were the victors in the Morrants Four Counties Division One derby against Elstow on Saturday.

Asked to bat first Elstow posted 188 all out off 43.5 overs. Matt Stevens was the mainstay of the innings with 83 with support from Rani Thiarra (38) and Phil Johnson (21). The pick of the Thurleigh bowlers was Matt Fensome (3-35).

Thurleigh’s openers looked untroubled until a change of bowler saw Ed Rhodes take three wickets in quick succession. However Scott Humphreys finished on an unbeaten 48 and with other contributions of Chris Wood (32), Andy Milne (30) and Ross McMullan (31) Thurleigh reached their target with four wickets and four overs remaining. Ed Rhodes was the most successful Elstow bowler (4-51).
